Finding my Blends with Benefits

Posted on July 9, 2015

Boy, have I found a smooth new juice blend to add to my list of faves …here’s my secret to finding perfection in Top Juice’s Blends with Benefits. In a rush in the morning? Trying to ease into a diet with more greens? Thirsty after the gym? Top Juice has juggled a blend that puts the yum in healthy, creating a smoothie bursting with nutritional goodness AND (shhhh) it actually tastes good too! I chose to try the alluring Mango Green Shake to quench my post-gym thirst. It’s all raw, dairy free, vegan friendly, and 100% natural – I watched all of the fresh ingredients on display go directly into my little cup of heaven: coconut water, kale, spinach, quinoa flakes, mango and banana.

I love nothing better than fresh green coconut water, it provides the body with 5 key and essential electrolytes; calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and sodium. This makes it rich in nutrients and perfect for hydrating the body after intense periods of physical activity, as coconut water can restore balance and replace the mineral-rich fluids lost during physical activity. This meant that the shake went down a treat after my cardio session! I watched the coconut being freshly cut and poured from the shell- ahhh even better, not one of those tetra-pack nasties!

Eating kale and spinach can be a chore, right? Not any more – this shake thoroughly blended a solid dose of these mean greens, while keeping things on the light and tangy side. These two bad boys come packed with vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Not such mean greens after all! They are both excellent sources of Vitamin K…now that’s not one you hear about everyday! We use Vitamin K to activate proteins for the development, growth, and maintenance of our bodies. It’s less of a drag when these two are blended up in a delicious shake, and even better when they’re raw so that all of that nutritional value is sipped up and delivered to my system. Who would have known I would ever be begging for a kale and spinach treat?!

I’ve tried quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) before, but never in natural flakes or in a shake. Adding a whole scoop-full of this supergrain into the mix packs a punch and contains the protein required for building muscle. It’s also an excellent source of fibre, 100% gluten free, and kept me fully satisfied during my busy morning.

Finally, the yum – my shake was a tropical paradise with the added deliciousness of mango and banana! It’s often hard to get the balance of fruit versus green, but these gave the shake a beautiful creamy texture without being too sweet. Yum, I kicked off the morning with a smile on my dial and my Blends with Benefits by my side!
